Do You Remember... And I've Learned...

I heard the words 'call center' since third year high school... and for some reason, even if people mentioned that the pay it offers has great perks, I still didn't buy it.

Honestly, I don't like this job... but I have to slap a smile on my face to sound friendly... So plastic!!!

So, upon desperation, I worked at a call center ~ Sykes Marketing, still recall???!!! Then I got sick... Then, after several months, I worked at another call center ~ Sykes Asia, just recent. But after knowing that I would be terminated after 5 months... I decided that this career path ends there. Last year, 2011, I know that it's not for me, so I applied at several call centers ~ but upon the entry of 2012... I have cancelled all of them. Not that I don't want to work (I really do, honestly)... I just don't want to be there anymore.

I believe that seven months is long enough...

What I realized in the span of seven months is that the pay ~ might be higher than that of an average clerical job... and it totally changes everything! I am like... it's so difficult to explain.

My mom advised me to try something else... and I think she's right...

Anyway, I have applied at some financial institutions ~ I know it might be a bit difficult to enter here, but who knows???!!! It might not be aligned with my college degree but I make sure I learn from it... learn to be humble.

A 2012 Call Center Agent

If you aren't aware of it ~ I have sent over 50 job applications through JobStreet.ph last December 2011 ~ and my!!! It's not the best feeling. I have received over 20+ calls and text messages within a span of a week... actually, last week!

Yup! I will be starting 2012 as a Technical Service Call Girl!!!

Last Saturday, my sister asked me on the job hunting progress ~ I mentioned that I have a test with this company... but I would end up being a call center agent for just 2 months. I initially wanted to reject this offer because I want to work full time. But she had a point to tell me to give it a try ~ it's much better to have a job than to stay at home not doing anything but being on Facebook for the next 2 months.

If being a couch potato for two months would make me look like this (see picture above), I will venture into another industry!!!

So yes, I will start the year as a call center agent... most probably for a night shift ~ but it's a pioneer account so none of the other agents have nothing to be proud about.

Employer Calls after Christmas Day

I went to bed at around 7:11 AM, so that means... that I would wake up in the afternoon, right???!!!

Ok, around 3 PM, there was this employer who called me on my mobile phone telling me that I have a job interview at around 9 to 10 AM. Oh my gosh! My first call!!! Then they told me it's at Makati ~ Oh my gosh!!! It's so far away!!!

Anyway, I applied at Jobstreet.com... and the photo will show you how desperate I am for a job!!!

Yup! I applied for 43 positions in several companies within a span of 3 days!

So far, I had 2 employer calls and I think about 3 or 4 text messages... all inviting for interviews. I specifically like the last one because the locations is just at Pasig... I mean, I don't want to go all the way to Makati every day just to work... because I'm not willing to spend more than PHP 100 (a little over USD 2) per day.

Anyway, I will be ironing my customer/technical support representative clothes for the coming week... and hopefully, one of them buys it and lures me in ~ auto hire!!! I just wish that if I will be in the BPO industry again, I just wish that it's in a non-voice account... because I don't speak well ~ just check my YouTube videos and find out for yourself! =)

Pre-Employment Requirements and Contingency Plans

I will continue to search for a job... promise!!! I just can't do a walk-in application with only my NBI clearance renewal fee. As I have posted just recently on my Facebook page, I wish that my previous company will allow me to claim my half-month salary plus 13th month pay since I have completed my clearance 6 weeks ago. I could have done my clearance about 2 to 3 weeks prior to that... but I was sick!!! Question: Why do I always get sick after employment, is there such a mystery???!!!

Anyway, I will be calling [Previous company] later because I really need to know if I can claim my pay... I mean, pre-employment requirements are not affordable... the NBI clearance, the pre-employment interviews and all that jazz have to be carefully planned. Argh!!! Anyway, that's part of the working life, right???!!!

So, what have I learned from working in the call center industry... or basically anything else???!!! I should save at least 1 month salary (preferably 2 or 3 months) just in case I will have an abrupt termination all over again, or in case I get sick... so I don't have to rely on my parents or my aunt for check-up fees.

Anyway, I hope that before December ends, an employer will call me for a pre-qualifying and a final interview and that by this coming January, I can start working right away!!!

Armand Félj... Makeup Tutorials on YouTube???!!!

I'm not sure if you have watched some of my YouTube videos, but there are some people who said that I have 'great' skin, 'great' eyebrows... so on and so forth. But the truth is ~ I don't have those... I am just enhanced by the invention called... makeup!!!

For me, makeup isn't meant to entirely change what you look like...

For those of you who didn't know, I started using cosmetics during my sophomore year in high school... and that was the most terrible experience I had. Since there was no YouTube, no tutorials online... I pretty much love caking it on and say that I am flawless!!! But everything has changed over the span of about 10 years!!! =D

I am not a makeup artist ~ so expect that I bloop some times!!!

Anyway, just to give you info: I am not a person who typically wears a fully furnished face all day!!! That's not me!!! I like have a moisturizer on, some powder, light blush, curled lashes, clear mascara, slightly darkened brows... and that's pretty much it!!! There are times I'm only using moisturizer and powder!!!

I prefer looking like I don't wear makeup!!!

Anyway, I see beauty gurus who keep on rambling about M·A·C, Bobbi Brown, Make Up Forever, Shu Uemura, and the list goes on ~ and for us Filipinos, it takes about one-fourth of our salary to use those... plus you can only buy those on high end department stores like Rustans!!!

You don't need to drain your entire bank account to buy a bottle of foundation...

About Armand Félj on makeup???!!! Well, I believe that you don't have to spend an entire year's salary on buying M·A·C brushes or spending an entire pay check to buy one color of eyeshadow!!! So, what do I use???!!! Honestly, I use makeup you can buy from department stores of any malls, from drug stores, from supermarkets ~ but due to safety reasons, I do not buy from side street vendors or from bazaars (tiangge).

BE SAFE!!! Do not just buy affordable brands!!! Make sure that they are trustworthy, but affordable brands!!!

I learned from YouTube too, but not everything I watched from there helped me... I mean, not one method will work for anyone, right???!!! I have learned from them but I have my own way, too!!! I try to do shortcuts, and I do some which take time but give the best results!!!

How people apply their makeup is not for everyone!!! It differs, too!!! If you're sloppy or pristine!!!

I will be focusing as well on product reviews starting the last week of December (it's pretty much a busy week for me)... but I will make sure that I can do all of those without just slapping color over me!!!

Just a reminder: beauty is not always what is on the outside... the inside counts more!!!

I will be posting makeup toots soon... I know ~ the more haters right???!!! But at least amidst the hate, there are still people who look good on the outside... but as well in the inside!!! =D

Excuses... I Hate Them!!!

I know, everybody hates the freaking thing... but let me explain on my side ~ for today only!!!

The new 22-inch full HD monitor in full HD glory!!!

So, when I came home from an event, my brother wanted to install our new monitor because... our old monitor... you can't get anything done because the bottom is not viewable AT ALL!!!

So, I decided that we are going to give it a try... so, when I was moving the cables at the back of the PC... I suddenly touched a cat's [CENSORED!!!]!!! Gross!!! I hate it!!! After washing my hands of the disgusting thing, I just said to my brother that we have to do general cleaning... well ~ the computer area only.

So, we detached the PC, cleaned the rubber mat, cleaned everything and... well, removing the things we didn't need and at around 3:00 AM, we were done!!! Done like dinner!!!

Anyway, I was supposed to work out today ~ but my arms and my legs are ouch!!!

Music Video Preparation Day

Honestly, doing a hot music video under a tight budget of less than PHP 500.00 (USD 11.36) is a bust!!! The only things I have for making a music video is myself, a digital camera, a tripod, a curtain rod, a green screen, a laptop, my makeup and makeup brushes, and the computer I will edit the whole thing into.

MAKEUP

I will be sporting a smokey eye, contoured face, and a nude lip in one of the scenes... so lavish!!!

This will be the first time I have to make my makeup pristine and worth making a tutorial for (not really, unless requested). I have like done great foundation and concealer on my face but I have never actually tried putting on a smokey eye!!! I have like the concept just two days ago and I have to do it tomorrow!!! Wow!!! I have to make a perfectly glossy red lip!!! Whoo!!! I might not look like Kim Kardashian with her perfect smokey eye and cakey makeup... but I'll look for more inspiration.

SCENERY

Yup, there will be no actual scenery because we don't have that!!!

This is one thing I am actually worried about! It has been raining the past few days. I was supposed to film a part today, but due to the lighting conditions, I wasn't able to. Why lighting conditions??? I am filming under a tight budget, plus there is no scenery where I live. This is not the United States where you can shoot a video at your lawn... Here, you will have to go to the top of a mountain, go to a resort, or go to a province in order to get a view. I will be using a green screen to at least lessen the burden... so expect that it will kind of look odd.

MUSIC

I don't know how to sing... well, at least I think that. I will not lip sync during the filming, I will sing it loud so it will look like I actually sang the song in the video... then I will just mute the video once I'm done!!! =)

I have been raving about this music video all week this week... but here's some extra ~ I didn't know that there was such a contest:

So, I decided to make a music video for real... not just something I will sing or lip sync to!!! I will mix every thing I know of... makeup, music, pure nonsense!!! And best of all, I will try a thing or two if I know anything about choreography!!! I will just have fun instead of the agonizing wait for employer calls!!!

I need good lighting too!!! Got to look for it!!!

But just to give you an update: I will be shooting on a low budget! Believe it or not, a low budget!!! I just bought a large panel of green cloth for my backdrop and I will use chroma key filter with a trick or two here and there. My clothes, well ~ they aren't costumes... but kind of like business attire (I'll try to get it with the theme)... I will do outrageous makeup I have never done before!!! I will be doing smokey eyes, red lips, contoured face, false eyelashes and the list goes on!!!

Now, I will really know how bad I am at putting makeup!!! Sloppy Armand!!! XD

Filming will start on Monday since weekends for me are usually busy, but let's just see!!! I'll keep you posted!!!

This Week...

If I haven't done anything said here, I am just a (rather) sexy couch potato!

I don't lounge this way!!! Promise!!!

Anyway, I have been thinking that I do not get to rest at home at all... I feel more lethargic than ever ~ and that's not cute!!! So, I decided that this coming week, I will be preparing to get off bed and try the many job opportunities there... whether it be a day shift or a night shift.

Looking in the classified ads section of the news paper is so passé!

I asked via my Facebook page where I can have my NBI clearance renewed ~ it's such a drag that we always have this thing to be renewed every time we get employed... but what the heck! So, I will be having it renewed at Robinson's Place Cainta (Junction)... then after that, I will be revamping my resume so that it's all padded and all information, which will never be used again, can be removed!!! That's so much padding ~ just like the shoulder pads of the 80s and 90s!!! =)

My resume has more padding that those in these models' couture!!!

So, after doing all that, I will be checking on the job opportunities that I have looked for... I look forward to either working in a bank (because of the regular office-hours schedule) or at a night shift call center so I could party less at night and have less vocal contact with customers ~ I love non-voice accounts and ought to give it a try.

Finally!!! A contact center without voice calls!!!

And yes!!! Since I am planning to go back to YouTube... I have to put my life in the best perspective as possible ~ same goes to my room!!! I will do ultra industrial general cleaning from the ceiling to the floor!!! I will return my closet to the glory it once had ~ arranged by color and every thing so I don't get to wear the same thing twice in the same week!!!

I wish that my closet was this big!!! But it's bigger than my bedroom!!! =)

Anyway, if I didn't do these things, aside from I am a sexy couch potato, I am also the biggest but sexiest liar ever!!! Imagining posting the future plans to the whole world and not doing them!!! Hehehe!!! =D

It's a weird question, right???!!!

Give more time for improvement... like a 6th month at least!!!

Last 21 October, the company I was working for has like labeled me as 'not good enough for them'... and that's a bummer!!!

"I mean, who gets termination as a birthday gift???!!! Can't they like do that... after???!!!"

Anyway, moving on... my mom was telling me to get a regular job... like a bank teller ~ and when I looked at some online sources... I saw that the salary of what she was telling me was half of what I was getting!!! I mean, I don't have a VERY luxurious lifestyle... and yet, that wasn't enough for me... So, how do I live with a 4-figure salary???!!! And the worst case is that I won't be assigned near my home town... I could be assigned anywhere in Metro Manila ~ and that is not a small place!!!

"That could like humble me... but that's too much humbling!!! =D"

So, last Saturday, while at church, I used my dad's laptop to browse for jobs during lunch break... and saw a few listings. I said that I wasn't going back to a call center after my first experience... and the year after that... I am like accepting calls from a "specific group of people" who do not give credit for the good service you give... I contradict myself, as always!!!

"To hell with voice calls!!! I *could* be much better at non-voice!!!"

I saw a few non-voice jobs, but the difference is that... the schedule is the other way around. I start the work day at some time in the evening, and end up the shift in the morning. I know, the schedule is perfect for people like me who party all night on front of the PC and like to sleep when the sun is shining.

I will be like Morticia Addams... getting all that moon rays!!!

I actually posted on my Facebook page whether I should get a job for a day shift or a night shift. One of my colleagues said that the night shift has its perks ~ less traffic congestion, bigger pay, and at the end of the day (since it's morning), you still have pretty much time for yourself. Although it would be the biggest change in my lifestyle, it's still worth giving a shot. The only fear that I have is... am I just looking at the salary???!!! Imagine a 5 figure salary with night differential... that is like almost twice of the salary I once had.

To put a story short... I needed something that would not just support me... but my entire family. I have this like this 'philanthropy' thing going on that I could have done but did not do last time. I placed my health at one side. And let's just say that I was a tad bit selfish ~ I want to change those things!!!

My dream job... walk... talk... look... FIERCE!!! Fire and other accessories sold separately!!! =)

Although this is not my dream job ~ I mean, being in a contact center... again???!!! The first time failed!!! The second one... it failed miserably!!! I just hope that the third time is the charm... a keeper ~~and comes with its own hunksicle~~!!! *Kidding!!!* I am like saving up for the dream career I should be in... but am not!!! So... better watch out for it!!! I think I am TOO AMBITIOUS!!! What do you think???!!! =D

The Stories of a Call Center Agent - On Special and Legal Holidays

Ok, so I will be working for my employer for almost 4 months now (at September 2)... I have not yet encountered going to work (or even school) on either a special or a legal holiday. Tomorrow, August 29, is National Heroes' Day... so, we have work ~ but with a delicious double pay. Then on Tuesday, August 30, some Islamic Holiday (if there are people of the Islamic faith, I am not familiar with your holidays ~ sorry for that)... so, we still have work ~ but there will be no calls, rather a general assembly for the employers under our account... and with a delicious double pay!

Some of the Filipino National Heroes that YOU... YES YOU!!! SHOULD KNOW!!! =)

Ok, so this will be the first time after three long months that I will experience such a thing... and yes!!! Finally!!! I will be able to go to a mall... namely, EDSA Shangri-La Plaza's Apple Store... so I can play with my, hopefully, future phone ~ the iPhone 4!!! Waaah!!!

The still super sexy iPhone 4... still beautiful... and still SUPER EXPENSIVE!!!

Anyway, to those who don't have work tomorrow and on Tuesday, enjoy your long weekend!!! I just hope that the malls are opened by Tuesday or that would be the most boring day at work with a delicious double pay!!!

Anyway, early yesterday morning while I was browsing a few shopping windows at Robinson's Galleria, I experienced the symptoms I had with the sickness that almost led me to my death last year. I experienced swirling dots in my vision, difficulty in breathing, and the extremely painful migraine headache... I even asked my team leaders if I could go home to rest, the good thing is that they allowed me to. I went to ride a jeep at a terminal along Shaw Boulevard because Robinsons was too far... in the jeep, I was like super pale and that I was so weak almost falling out of the jeepney about several times.

It was scary, when I came home and went back to bed, I thought that I will never wake up ~ same like before. Thank goodness, I'm still alive and able to share a little something here and there.

Apple iPhone 4

Ever since I have been working for Optus (I'm an outsourced sales representative), all I hear from bloody Aussies is the iPhone 4... When I have undergone product training, the iPhone 3GS was phased out and the iPhone 4 replaced it in the Optus product line.

The Apple iPhone 4... in all its shiny glory!!!

At first, I thought the iPhone 4 wouldn't be for me... in Globe Telecom, they sold the phone unit for PhP 45,000 (~ USD1,000) which for me is ridiculous!!! I won't buy a phone which would be more expensive than a computer!!! (Even if there are PCs now for less than PhP 20,000 (USD 444.44)). Recently, I posted a status message (well... not really a status message now since it goes down)...

"Which would you prefer??? An Apple iPhone 4 or Nokia N8???!!!"

One of my friends (when i was in the 6th grade can't decide while my friend in my 1st year in college told me that I would enjoy more with the iPhone 4. For the longest time, since there was an iPod touch ~ I wanted one, but it was just a music slash video player... I also want the functionality of a phone... but the iPhone was rather up-up-upscale!!!

For me, the iPhone is more beautiful in black!

The iPhone 4 is aesthetically pleasing in contrast with the Nokia N8. Although it has a lower resolution for digital imaging, other features are rather well ~ I mean, I played with an iPod touch before and I know somehow how it goes. One thing I don't like about the iPhone 4 is the micro-SIM card support only ~ I mean, I can live with the fixed 32 GB internal memory... but a micro-SIM card???!!! Who thought of making micro-SIM card in the first place???!!!

Micro-SIM cards made life much more complicated, right???!!!

So, why am I asking between the said phone and a Nokia N8???!!! The Nokia N8 has a digital imaging resolution of 12 MP, something I have never ever thought Nokia would do... from a 5 MP sensor to a 12!!! Wow!!! And I know Nokia is a very user friendly phone since I used Nokia since the 6th grade. (From a Nokia 3210, to a Nokia 8250, to a Nokia 3310, to a Nokia 8250, to a Nokia 3310, to a Nokia 7260, and to a Nokia N70 Music Edition ~ all were hand-me-down phones except the first Nokia 8250 which was a surprise expense deducted from my bank deposits!!!)

Which looks better... the iPhone or Nokia N8???!!!

Anyway, the prices are rather close... the Nokia N8 costs PhP 18,450 (USD 410) while the Apple iPhone 4 costs USD 460 (PhP 20,700) at a website inclusive of shipping and has a tracking number from the United Kingdom (brand new unit).

But since my current project is a digital camera, I'll see which one I will squeeze into my wishlist!!! =)

By the way, iPhone 4 or Nokia N8???!!!

Out of the Box Experience with Armand Félj!

Take note people, out of the box experience ~ not out of the closet experience!!! =)

Anyway, I got my printer last... Thursday???!!! And let me just tell you that I was so excited to get it... by the way... it was a promotion package of Smart Telecommunications ~ you get an HP printer, a Smart Gold Lite SIM card allowance of PHP 300 (about USD 6.67 / lock-in for 6 months, it's not a cap... so any excess usages will be charged)... and after the two year lock-in contract, I get an included 1 month free... not bad, right???!!! And I enjoy the internet now!!!

It looks very simple... and is much smaller than my previous multifunction printer

Back to the printer, the printer I got was a Hewlett Packard DeskJet Ink Advantage 2060, it's an 'all-in-one' (since multifunction printers are aimed for businesses)... did I mention I am an outsourced HP Customer Care Personnel???!!!

The inbox cartridges usually have about 50-75% of the trade cartridges. If you wondered what the encircled figures are for, they're for colorblind people.

The printer is way, way smaller than the Canon Pixma mp198 I purchased about 2 years ago... it had to be given to someone else (my sister), since I have a replacement... I actually wanted to buy an A3-sized printer... but since I just started working last month... I don't have the money for that. The printer looks very simple, it is mostly a cyan+gray tint... I don't know how to describe it. The front panel has only 4 buttons (power on-off, cancel copy/print, color and grayscale copy), and there is no LCD screen for multiple standalone copy function.

The test page printed when the cartridges were installed are rather satisfactory... and it looks like draft mode.

The thing now with HP is the automatic printing once an ink cartridge has been installed/re-installed. I looked at the printout and it is satisfactory ~ compared to previous models... well, this specific model (which printed in normal mode) looks rather like a draft... I'm not sure if it's because of initial printing... but it really looks draft. But, since I rarely use colored ink for printing ~ I guess that's pretty ok... anyway, my brother would probably use it for his school activities... thank goodness it came before the first semester.

Acne Solution... It Worked for Me!!! =)

Since I was a little boy, I love to watch advertisements of various items on home shopping networks. From household appliances, to kitchen tools… but what I have been amazed more than ever… is with beauty products. Then came adulthood: almost all secrets have been revealed ~ since I also have a friend who has work in the commercial industry before. So skepticism has mixed with the things I have previously believed in.

Acne is more popular than any celebrity, Ok Mrs. Beckham???!!! =)

I watched EZ Shop Mall, it is a television program where various items are advertised. One of them was Woman World (W-II) Acne will Be Gone (AcBeGone). I have done a short research on what the ingredients were, and they were similar to that of the salon’s formulations… but of course, the salons do that for upselling. It was too good to believe, I mean ~ pimples will be gone in about a week???!!! I thought that I would never have acne problems since I was a boy… but when I hit the fourth grade, I started having small lumps on my face… then fifth grade was the worst!!! I had pimples all over, at the face, at the neck, at the nape, at the chest and at the back!!! It was devastating.

AcBeGone Daily Pore Cleanser, Moisturizing Essence Gel, and Peel-Off Mask

So, last Tuesday, I just wanted to give W-II AcBeGone a try. On the first night, I had a swollen pimple at my chin, so I washed my face with the daily pore cleanser and applied the moisturizing gel essence then I went to bed. At the morning, my pimple was dry!!! My aching pimple at the nape, after removing the content and applying the gel, it flattened in about a day and a half ~ and the pimple didn’t recur!!!

"I JUST LOVE IT!!!"

One drawback that I found is that it made my face a bit oilier ~ but I guess, that’s not a big problem since you can powder your face after the moisturizing gel essence has totally dried. I can say that it has worked better for me since I don’t apply makeup nowadays (the last time I used makeup was during my interview last April something, for your information). Now this is from my point of view, it may or may not work for you ~ I suggest do your research on the ingredients and see if you have any allergic reactions to any of them. The best part is that for PHP 2,480 (USD 55.11), my pimples have dried ~ considering I only use these items (except the mask ~ which is once or twice a week) every night and day for just a few days.

It was Wednesday of this week when I went to various places of Metro Manila to complete my employment requirements... and one of them was SM Mega Mall.

I went to Mega Mall during the day... I mean ~ some building just look better at night!!! Don't you agree???!!!

So after having my NBI clearance renewed, I left the building for a ride to Cubao. At the somewhat, walkway leading to EDSA, I saw a foreigner who looks like he came from [Country], and his, seemingly, P.A. (Panandaliang aliw, or a whore for pay. Not to be confused with personal assistant, although some have dual or multiple functions). It was so obvious that the woman was a P.A. because like any typical hooker, she was wearing tight tank top, with tight pek-pek shorts (crotch length shorts), and flip-flop (similar to that of bathroom slippers).

For the people who have never seen an NBI clearance... it's either a yellow or yellow-greenish piece of paper costing PHP 115-150 (USD 2.56-3.33) for local or out of the country employment.

To me, well... that was a usual thing. When I was a bellman and a waiter at [Company], I always saw SOME foreigners with a P.A. But this time was different. Public display of affection to me has always been an eyesore. But for the foreigner to slap his P.A.'s butt in public???!!! I don't know about you but I still find the Philippines "somehow conservative" where there are actions to be done in a room. He was quite proud of doing so because he was slapping the entire time they were walking in that area. And the shameless girl was so proud because, I think ~ she has never had her butt touched due to the butt pimples she might have.

Thank goodness I didn't bring my camera!!! At least Jay-Z and Beyoncé are in a relationship!!! With butt-slapping during concerns!!!

Anyway, I will not specify the person's probable nationality because it is rude... and I might have a mistake and tag the nationality as "known for butt slapping." But I mean... I tell, or type, everything I see!!! So, if you may have done something which is peculiar in public... I might just type it here!!!

It's Not for Me... Maybe Not Now

If you frequently pass by my Facebook page, you will notice me posting things about myself... and my job... and all that jazz.

For lunch I had rice, large iced tea, large fries, and chicken nuggets

Anyway, I started my training at [Company] yesterday and it was very stressful ~ I can do work but I am not a jack of all trades and master of one, management... no ma'am!!! I was cleaning tables, mopping the restroom [and I don't even know how to use a mop!!!], I was even cooking burgers with the latest technology in cooking ~ well... I say that because we don't have a scanner-type, platen, automatic, double-sided burger patty fryer!!!

This is my dinner ~ for the first day: large fries, large iced tea, double cheese burger (I cooked the patties!!!) and a mega-chocolate sundae!!! =)

The second day, well ~ I was so early, I had to wait out for an hour. And then I was given my task with a critique. The restaurant manager said,

"Ok lang maging mabuti, kaya lang masyado kang mabait!"

For my readers, that translates as, "It's ok to be good, but you're too kind (nice)!" I mean, I am new in the fast food business... give me a little slack!!! Considering the company is very reputable, there was no such orientation ~ I mean, I was given a tour of the outside of the premises (drive thru, parking area, lobby or dining). I went home early after having my breakfast slash lunch. If yesterday, I had a good face on my meal ~ today wasn't. So, I'm off to job-searching all over again.

With my lunch, I guess you have an idea where I was supposed to work! Good and it didn't come through... all that food can go to my thighs!!! *Ouch!!!*

Ok, so I said that I was planning on a Canon SX 210 IS ~ this camera is very, very, very similar... well, not really, just mostly!!!

It's quite pricey though... but it will be quite an investment.

Canon PowerShot SX210 IS... has a bigger image resolution of 14.1 megapixels... with a little boo-boo in the zoom control!!!

I have read the reviews, and they are very good... so ~ it's a must buy!!!

We Have a DVD-RW Drive!!!

My younger brother, Lui, shelled out PHP 2,000 for a DVD-RW drive. I usually record on DVD-RWs if I know that I will rarely access a file, which is like never!!! But he... wants to play games... so he told me to buy one.

Pampering Ahead for a Future Manager???

So I have posted about applying as a manager trainee for [Company]... but before I do, I am at dad's school!!!

I am not here to teach or to learn... I'm here primarily to make trouble!!! (Just kidding!!!) I'm here actually to get a facial and a foot spa!!! Wow!!!

I know, right???!!!

I'm not sure if I will get my face into the shape that I desired ~ but I worked ahead of time to at least remove some dirt from my skin and some dead skin cells of my toes...

I have never had a foot spa... minus the flowers!!! This is based on student budget!!! =)

But I'm sure after the treatment to be done by his students (?) ~ the effects of the said pampering will be gone by the time that I go to my first day of training!!! And it will be the first time I will get a foot spa!!! Yay!!!

TRIVIA:

As much as possible, I do not like to show my legs, my feet, and/or my toes ~ UNLESS I am someone I am comfortable to be with and/or if I am in the house. But don't get me wrong ~ I do not wear pants going to a sari-sari store!!!

Mostly every one knows I'm in desperate need of a job... who doesn't???!!! Life's hard and we also need to satisfy our wants... but usually... our needs.

This morning, I went to [Company] for an interview ~ I was a bit worried because I do not know anything about Ayala, Makati City!!! So, like a foreigner in strange land, I printed a map from Google and clipped it. That was my guide.

Then, after a GT Express ride to Ayala, I looked for the establishment which is [Street 1] corner [Street 2]. So, I reached the end of Street 1... and I was wondering, where is the establishment???!!! Then I asked someone... he said that it was at the other side, and he advised me to take a cab... but I only had PHP 200 (USD 4.44) pocket money. So, I walked to the other side of the street... AND I WAS PISSED!!! The HR personnel didn't even tell me that [Street 1] corner [Street 2] are on both ends!!! Sh*t!!! X-(

Anyway, I bought a large ~~Cock~~... I meant, a large Coke and went to the interview area. So, it was more of interrogation than an interview... which was quite... shocking!!! But I was told to return at 2:00 PM (GMT +8). Oh by the way, before being interviewed, the shoe for my right food broke!!! Sh*t!!! x-(

Anyway, Makati City is crazy!!! I have a reason why... but Makati City is clean... well not perfect though.

So, around 12 PM, my sister called me on my phone because I had so much time to burn... she told me where Glorietta is... but instead of entering Glorietta (the mall where you are obliged to have a credit card... because cash is for geeks!!! *Joke!!!*), I went to a lower-scale, but still a bit upscale (comparing to malls I frequently go to) Land Mark. I ate at Jollibee... their new Sweet and Sour... I hope that was pork... I just ate beef this week!!! Then I went back to the establishment's location.

I freshened up and chat with a prospect... manager trainee... she said that the salary is [Amount]!!! And I was shocked!!! My salary was higher than that!!! And that, you have to have a good performance and you are obliged to stay in the company for 2 years. What???!!!

So orientation came in... we were told that if you resigned within 2 years, or you weren't meeting minimum expectations, there was a training disbursement of [Uncertain amount]. My goodness!!! It was like, we will pay back the money we earned!!! My inspiration is that we can eat foods like [Food 1], [Food 2], and so much more... but hello???!!! Eating fast food twice a day can put the measurements!!! And that's not the bad part... since I am applying for a management trainee, I can go back for a second, third, fourth, nth serving!!!

I was 25-75 because there is possible work during weekends (obvious already, right???!!! It's a fast food chain), during holidays, and shifting... so I'm not sure if on the spot changing is possible. But I have to do applications now... because if not ~ I'll be unemployed for more months to come... and I feel I need to do something because it's boring at home!!!

Honestly, I have never been fond of playing online games... it just so happened that my younger brother was so into it... so I wanted to check it out for myself. This was practically the first day I played CityVille on Facebook. So, I'm totally a newbie to it.

I found one thing interesting, it was the sweet potatoes (I think in the Philippines, this is called camote). It costs about US5 cash in the game... it's quite costly!!! But it somehow was a good thing because if the sweet potatoes cost US5, that amount will be donated 'Save the Children' foundation... for the earthquake victims of Japan. By the way, sweet potatoes are special edition (for donations) crops which yield instantly.

Two years ago, we had like Typhoon Ketsana in the Philippines... it was a curse-slash-blessing in disguise... and many countries helped... I think one of them was Japan. And this year, Japan was struck by the infamous 9.1-magnitude Sendai earthquake and tsunami. So relate: an earthquake can just happen any time now, right???!!! I can't do any direct assistance to them, so ~ maybe I can help through some prayers and an online game!!! I practically gave USD5 (PHP 225) to the charity ~ that's more than the money I currently have!!! Hotness!!! So, maybe if I'm bored with other sites... I'll just play this instead!!! =)

Sometime around 4 PM today, mom answered the phone... and this guy was looking for me. So, I asked who the caller was... and it was an HR personnel from [Company]... stating that I will be having an interview at [Location] at Friday, 9:00 AM!!! Oh my gosh!!! I love it!!! And besides, the company is BIG!!!

Do you think the person on the other side of the phone line is...???!!!

By the way, during the call, the guy muted for a brief moment while we were talking. I was a call center agent ~ and we only mute if we cough, sneeze, burp, belch, or curse.!! So, which was it???!!! Anyway, I have an interview... and I WILL LOVE IT!!! By the way, I had a little of the Australian accent going on... I don't know where that came from!!! =)

I Have a Computer... Again!!! =)

Ok, so what's new???!!!

The Acer Mini Desktop on our computer table... it's so neat-looking!!!

Last week, I was so irritated ~ as in mega frustrated because the Acer desktop PC (Aspire L300) was turning off automatically (and abnormally) because of the power supply... why? Since the PC had a small form factor, it used an AC-DC adaptor, similar to those of notebook PCs. And then after I cleaned the computer room last week, the computer really gave up!!! GRRR!!!

A more stable, regular-sized, and reliable CPU casing... controlled heating... Yes!!!

So, without the permission of my aunt (because the PC belongs to her), I took the CPU unit and stuffed it in my square mailman bag (it's that compact)!!! I went to PC Home to ask if the mini desktop PC can have a major change ~ the casing... so yeah... it was possible IF AND ONLY IF, the motherboard and the memory modules will be replaced, and if the DVD reader-writer will be removed. So the total cost was supposed to be PHP 4,500 (USD 100)... then it soared up to PHP 6,600 (USD 146.67)!!!

Windows Seven Home Premium in all its clear glory!!! I just love it!!!

We got the CPU unit after I got a major financial crash!!! I owe my younger brother PHP 4,500 (USD 100)!!! But anyway, it's here... and it's working like a new PC with some old parts!!! Anyway, the operating system was upgraded and all that jazz!!!

The old casing and motherboard are still with me, and if anyone there wants to buy it... please notify me!!!

Seriously now! I just came back from church, and before I went there ~ I visited my hematologist.

Thalassemia is auto-recessive... whatever that means! (You'll need to click the image to see the text ~ written in black)

If you haven't read my previous post, maybe sometime last November or December, I was confined in a hospital for four days due to hemolytic anemia. The doctor looked at blood specimen and noticed that it was not just your typical anemia... an everyday person would say, "Take iron supplements and eat foods rich in iron." But this wasn't my case ~ I had higher levels of iron.

No wonder they don't want you to take iron ~ it's all rusty!!! But this is not the iron I'm talking about!!!

During my consultation, the doctor said that I have an α (Alpha) Thalassemia trait. Thalassemia is a circulatory system disorder primarily in the blood and is a hereditary. She stated that this disorder was introduced to the Philippines by early Chinese and Hispanic civilizations. So I have an imported blood disease!!! That's hot!!! =)

I'm a Hispanic Japa-Chinese!!! =)

The doctor said that I still have the same prohibitions... mainly food. I am not allowed to eat foods rich in iron ~ for example: red meat (beef, pork), cereals, beans, and every thing else rich in iron!!! Although I could cheat once in a while... which is like every six months!!! And that I have my supplements (folic acid, vitamin B complex [B1, B2, B3, B6, B12] and vitamin E) which is forever!!! (Oh my gosh ~ the expense!!!) =O

I need supplements... and a mega-dose of folic acid!!!

But I can still enjoy doing the things I do... although if I have reached my limit... I should like take a break!!! There is no major treatment (unless I have Thalassemia major and I will need an iron chelation therapy), but I have to see the doctor and I need a complete blood count every three months (the least) and I need a major blood test at National Kidney and Transplant Institute every one to two years.

Yes, I work out (more frequently) now... I'm crushing!!! Woohoo!!! Seriously!!! Major-major!!! =)

Shitty Windows Vista Service Pack 2!!! Problem??? Solved!!!

The other day, an upgrade for my video editing software required me to download Windows Vista Service Pack 2... ok so, I downloaded it.

Windows Vista in its full vista-ness... The logo is so rotund!!! =)

I was already using Vista SP 1 at the time and it needed an upgrade. Since there was no problem with SP 1, I just installed it anyway.

At some point of computer software development... we have no choice but to upgrade

There was a point it was stuck up... but it was like 2 hours and it was still stuck up!!! Grrr!!! Anyway, I tried to Restore PC function by means of using PC Restore, and system restore... to the point that I even tried to re-install Windows again!!! But my Windows disc had a lot of scratches on it... I mean, I have an original serial and all... but I needed a DVD

When you buy an original DVD, this is the packaging...

By the way, if you are planning to make any major upgrade in your operating system. DO YOURSELF A BIG FAVOR AND CREATE A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT. Learn from my mistake. Don't know how to make one???!!! Click here!!!

BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO!!! I'm not being insecure for any reason... I'm just really conservative!!! Hehehe!!! But honestly, I'm really hormonal right now!!! I ate more last Christmas Season (thank goodness... HAM SEASON DIDN'T COME!!!), so I eat less right... I admit ~ I was a bit lazy to work out... but I did it like about once or twice a week... I really need to shush my excuses this year because I am getting nowhere!!!

Ok, so I have a 32 inch waistline... no big right???!!! WRONG!!! All my pants are size 30 ~ the most... because I was quite skinny when I entered my internship. And I like ballooned after eating a full packed lunch!!! So what is my actual goal for my waistline???!!! I won't just stop at working out to get washboard, chiseled abs (but I'm not here yet ~ I'll just update you!!!)... but I plan on tight-lacing!!! So what in the world is that about???!!!

I want a 27 inch waistline!!! By wearing women's underwear???!!!

Well, I want to try those Victorian-era(?) corset-thingy!!! I know, it's not cute for a guy to have an hourglass figure... but who in the world cares, right???!!! I'm not wanting to be overly muscular anyway!!! So yes ~ I want a 27" waistline... well I'll think about it in the long run... but it is better to control your eating habits by cinching your waistline a bit so you could control your eating... IT'S SO MUCH BETTER THAN DEVELOPING AN EATING DISORDER!!!

Hormonal + Pimple Season... So NOT CUTE!!!

I can't recall how many pimples, whiteheads, and blackheads I have had in the span of 13 years... and it's quite frustrating!!! As if every one didn't have one, right???!!! Pimples are one of the things I hate most... you don't know when you're going to get them... and all of a sudden... BAM!!! IN YOUR FACE!!!

Even America's Next Top Model judge ~ sexy fashion photographer, Nigel Barker, has pimples too!!! And ~~he is so juicy~~ ~ I meant the pimple's juicy!!!

I don't know what was up in the past few days: I mean, the weather's fine!!! I love the cold!!! I mean, I don't go out to the pollution... so maybe I am stressed???!!! But from what???!!!

This is the freshest of the fresh air you can get in the Philippines... I just love it!!!

I know there are a lot of things to consider when having pimples ~ you can get it from pollution, or improper hygiene (I guess)... but I don't have problems in those departments... I'm just plain hormonal at the moment!!! (Sounds yucky right???!!!)

If for some reason I'm hormonal ~ I don't really know why... I mean, I'm not growing inches taller anymore... and my voice won't get any deeper... and Oh my gosh!!! Acne is so famous... almost(?) every one on the silver screen has one!!!

In the past three or four days, I had like several break-outs... and two big ones are on my face... it's so weird ~ the placement is almost symmetrical!!! EWE!!!

I know ~ being an adult male will bring out the hairiness during adolescence, right???!!! But that's not the only thing ~ I'm like a mix of Hispanic, Chinese, Japanese... and I got the hairiness of Hispanic people... IT'S SUCH A DRAG!!!

By the way, I don't mean to put a lot of men photos on this entry. How can I explain it if the photo is of women... and like "We... Men?" Get the point???!!!

If you haven't noticed ~ Joseph Sayers' face is clean shaven... but he has a little body hairs showing. *By the way, he's so hot!!!*

I have removed hair from virtually everywhere on my body!!! I have trimmed my bangs (did you notice they're always almost-straight???!!!), I have threaded stray hairs near my eyebrows, I have plucked my facial hair, I shaved my arms and upper body with an electric lady shaver, and I have waxed my legs!!! I have tried every depilation method possible.

One of my all-time favorite singers, Darius Campbell-Danesh, looks better with a little of his scruff on. Did I mention his voice can melt a heart???!!! I know he did!!! =)

I don't know what it's really all about. I know there are men who are naturally hair... and it works for them. And I tried it before ~ and I looked like a heroin addict... and NOT IN A GOOD WAY!!!

Even smooth-appearing men have body hairs... but very, very much inconspicuous. I envy!!! Is he a football player ~ because he touched down there???!!! =)

So, I decided that I will have my body hairs removed... permanently!!! Quite drastic, huh???!!! I mean, why spend a lot of money in disposable razors, such and such???!!! Anyway, clothes can somehow augment the loss right???!!! Oh yeah, I'm not looking forward to visiting a dermatologists ~ I have like an acre dedicated to personal space... so I'm just looking for a hair removal something to be used at the comfort of my own home.

Joseph Sayers at 5 feet 6 inches (168 cm) is a very successful male model. He's a bit shorter than me... so why bother racing to the 6-feet???!!! With that... I'm very much happy with my height!!!

I'm not sure how many times I have mentioned that I would want to be a model one day: I'm not sure if I could be a couture, a catalog, or a commercial model ~ with the height issue and all (I am NOT short... I am of average height, FYI!!!)... but I think I could work on many other aspects so I could at least send some almost-perfect test shots to various modeling or talent agencies. But don't get me wrong ~ my main goal is not just to be famous and spend frivolously, but to make people aware of what is happening in their surroundings (for example: Armand Félj ~ effeminate, flamboyant, metrosexual), and help many others.

If you don't know what the UP Oblation is about ~ it's not just about being nude... it's a nude protest!!! (I didn't post a full-frontal... there are minors reading!!!)

But the point of this post is not why I want to become one. The Philippines (in a way) is sill (somehow) conservative ~ because there are still many things not allowed to be done in public (the UP oblation is another thing)... and I also know there are people out there (like me) who look up to various models or celebrities and would somehow want to become like them.

Wendell Ramos in a g-string (there is no justice here). By the way... the upper body looks ok, but his (girly) butt needs work!!!

Wendell Ramos has become a popular actor slash model because of being in Bubble Gang... and also for wearing a G-string in Bench's fashion show.

But as I was looking for something in Google, I was wondering why and what was Rafael Rosell doing:

I admit, he has a good physique... and there could be people out there who like look up to him... but in this photo ~ I don't know. Does he have a genital itch??? Use Lactacyd!!!

My point is, someone could be a memorable person without grabbing someone's crotch at a fashion show. This is at any manner inappropriate to grab your crotch at a fashion show ~ although for sure there were people who got turned on by the situation.

I just watched episode 5 of America's Next Top Model Cycle 9 and remembered some comments by Jeremy Scott and Tyra Banks when Samantha Potter raised her dress during a runway fashion show.

Considering he looks a bit off, I love how he wants his models to respect his reputation because he is the one who put them on the runway in the first place. I commend him on that one.

I don't know about you... but I am always excited to know what is up on America's Next Top Model!!!

Honestly, I haven't watched all episodes starting from Cycle 1 to 5 and 14 to 15, and I haven't watched cycle 10 to 13. But I'll save that for later...

I don't know what's with Enrique Iglesias... he seems hotter now than before... in a subtle way of course!!!

Anyway, I have watched some episodes on YouTube, and I passed episode where they shot a music video for the lovely Enrique Iglesias for his music video "Tired of Being Sorry"... who, because of this song... I am starting to like... in a music sense!!!

I love the girls of ANTM Cycle 9 ~ because they have performed very well... even there was critique for each and every one of them, the video is just beautiful!!! I love the aggressiveness "dead" look of Heather and the leg blocking of Lisa!!! The other girls were very good in making impressions too... even if they didn't have major roles.

So fierce!!! I love it!!!

I love the video... and if you love ANTM and Enrique Iglesias, it is a must watch!!!

When Computers Assess Job Opportunities…

Last Monday, my brother called me because a “Company” (I will not mention the name for some purpose) wanted me to visit their office for an assessment… to take place on Wednesday 1 PM.

A little info: I only wanted to apply their not because I like the job… but because the location is near.

Ok, so I went using business casual ~ and let me tell you, wearing a shirt with long sleeves is not my cup of tea. So, I went into the company with my resume and invitation on hand. And I felt VERY ALIENATED inside… as if every single thing there was against me.

So, I sat down to calm my nerves. I texted all family members to wish me luck on my assessment… whether it will be a ‘go to the next step’ or ‘better luck next time’, whatever!!! So I went to this guy, who told me to write my applicant number on my resume… and after that I took a seat. Then another guy told us to approach some computer station.

He told us to type the job item number, and I was applying for a tech. support position. Then there was a 34-item assessment there, in which there was no right or wrong answers. Ok, so I took the assessment and answered it as frank as possible ~ there were only 4 choices for each item: strongly disagree, disagree, agree and strongly agree. Then I asked the employee what was the next step.

After a few minutes of checking the assessment, that employee told me that I wasn’t fit for the said position. I was like, “Can I go now?” and I left. I was both relieved and offended: I was relieved because I came out of an area I wasn’t comfortable with… and I was offended because why let a computer assess who you are? Right???!!!

Computers don't know that much... they just know the numbers zero and one

I’m not at all being bitter. A computer can only assess superficially. So why let the computers do all the work???!!! They didn’t base in on what was in my resume… or even what was on front of them at the moment… but whatever!!! That is not the only company I could work for anyway!!!

BACK TO BASICS: Removing All That Jazz

Have you ever felt like you tried changing your appearance, changing your attitude... changing a lot of things... and you were sticking to this for such a time???!!! And all of a sudden, something passed your mind and you felt like, "I don't know who I am anymore?" After listening to a 'wise man' for a few days, I looked at myself at the mirror... and I just realized that.

I used to wish life was like a computer: we could press a 'Reset Button' (I think now it's called System Recovery) if something went horribly wrong and then we could fix a mistake... as if!!!

It has been eight long years that I changed all these aspects: not all of the changes that have occurred are bad. I have changed from being a very quiet person (even to the point where a person talks to me, and I do not respond) to a person who wants to make friends, enjoy life, and have fun. I also changed the way I present myself ~ from all the baggy clothes to regular-fitting clothes... and some fitted (in other words, not very tight but comfortable) clothes.

I have looked at some of my friends from high school at Facebook... some look the same... and some look like you have never seen them!!! I looked at that person's profile... and he was so different, I can't even tell who he was!!!

I have changed from a person who doesn't mind looking like this... into a person who looks to the smallest detail. And the change is really big. There are some people who couldn't recognize me because the elements of my face have changed as well. I will be honest, I have plucked, shaved, and threaded my eyebrows (irregularly) for about 8 years (since 2nd year high school). These methods weren't very popular to men... until man-scaping came into play. I thought it was ok to remove some stray hairs that got in the way of what was natural... but I was not satisfied with how it looked like, and I had to remove more... and more... and more... and eight years later, I do not even know how it will look like on me ~ or even, if they will look the same way again!!! And since the damage takes a long time to recover, I had to use a brown, highly water resistant eyebrow shadow... or even a black, waterproof eyeshadow.

Have you ever wondered why a guy, like me, would post a video on YouTube titled, "Grow Your Eyebrows Back"???!!! The reason of that was because I had so much work done there, it went from natural... to good... to okay... to horrendous!!! By the way, I'm all out of minoxidil!!!

I went even further. I have been 'in love' with the fashion industry, and would one day want to be in it. And one thing that the fashion industry can't remove... is makeup.

I have used makeup way back 2nd year high school... but I stopped ~ since I lacked the know-how, I looked like a clown with it!!! HONESTLY!!! There was no high speed internet and YouTube back in the day: I learned every single thing about it through YouTube ~ but I have also learned a few tricks of my own. And it all went back during my college days at Siena. Since we, students, had to look presentable, to guests,: the point of the hospitality industry is being superficial. We had to look our best. I had to go and take the hands-on approach. I bought almost all types of makeup brushes (except the duo-fiber brush... see wishlist), face powders, blushes, eye shadows, mascaras... and the list goes on and on and on. But don't get me wrong:

I just enhance the natural features by erasing the flaws.. Because that's how guys are supposed to look like... clean and fresh. And since I am a lover of how the male body looks (as if it wasn't obvious enough!!! Refer to previous posts)... and the tremendous work for sculpting one... I have always looked up to male models. I do not see any similarity in my appearance (I do not have a strong jaw, I don't look good with all the facial hair, and of course... LOOK AT MY BUILT... I'm skinny and 5 feet 7 inches tall!!!), so I just went to the route of looking like a "beautiful man", ok???!!! I also took some points when I was dealing with customers in my previous job... they were mostly foreigners, so I put some rouge on. And it looked ok... But nowadays, I just curl my eyelashes and apply translucent powder to my face.

Take the photo on the right as an example ~ Marco Dapper has a 'strong' (angular) jaw. And he looks fresh and clean... as if there is no makeup.

My attitude has changed a lot. And I like hit an all time high when I had a job. I wasn't very flashy by means, but in some way... my pride like got in the way (I even argued with my best friend on the spot with Facebook). That was not the only thing, I was developing something like... greed. I was thinking that I am employed, and I could finally buy this and that, this and that ~ namely a brand new computer, a new notebook PC, a new camera with a higher zoom and HD function. And if that happened, I could have had numerous luxuries. And after almost being employed for two months... I had to stop working because of hemolytic anemia. The moment I had that, I just thought it could have been genetics. But last night, while ironing clothes, I thought about it... I was in a situation where someone was feeding me humble pie.

SMOKING... I ABHOR IT!!!

I woke up at around 3:00 AM today and I just can't go back to bed at the moment. So, what's the best way to kill time... I can't work out... so, I will just blog!!! Blog! Blog!! Blog!!!

NOTE:
This is a controversial subject and I want to make it clear to any one and every one who reads this particular post that this is my point of view. The point of this post is not to criticize but to point out a concern.

Since I love modeling, the talent, the beauty, and the work behind it, this post will be using all shots from the first photo shoot of America's Next Top Model Cycle 9!!!

Have you ever taken the best shower of your life, wanting to go out and just have some fun???!!! Then all of a sudden, you passed by a guy who was smoking, and then he puffed cigarette smoke all over you???!!! Not cute huh???!!! And aside from not being cute, imagine what you just can't see on you... burnt lungs???!!! Ewe!!!

To be honest, I don't just hate the habit of smoking... I ABHOR IT!!! But did you notice I just mentioned, "the habit" and not the smoker???!!!

An individual is bound to have at least a few friends who smoke cigarettes. That's fine. I can't do anything about that because I have a lot of friends who smoke ~ well, most are non-smokers, but you get the point. And every time they light a yosi (Filipino slang for cigarette) and they communicate with me, I am like more than 2 meters away from them... I state my reason, but I really don't know if they are offended or what, but I just do it for health reasons.

The youngest people I have seen smoke (way back then) were my classmates back in the sophomore years in high school ~ that's all the way back to 2003 and I was 15!!! And now, children smoke!!! Goodness!!! I heard some time last year that there was this video of a smoking baby... and I think he is a two-year old smoking toddler now???!!! What???!!! I would rather do something worthy than be an instant celebrity the wrong way!!!

Someone I know took a few puffs of a cigarette in the past ~ I'm not really sure whether it was a regular or a menthol thingy. She told me, it felt cool on the throat and I think she liked it. But she didn't continue the vice because it would be a very costly vice... imagine doing that thing every single day???!!!

I asked one of my classmates way back college, I'm not sure if she graduated. When she smokes during lunch, I stay two tables away from her, and we talk. All the people in that establishment look at us... as if I was weird!!! Anyway, I asked her what does smoking do for her. She said to me, that smoking gives a full feeling ~ and that she didn't have to eat or eat as much. And if she does it after eating, it assists her in doing nature's call. I think that's psychological!!!

Well, before typhoon Ketsana (Ondoy) wrecked the biggest area of Luzon... including the inside of my house, I observed some basketball players on the street across my house... because I noticed one of them has a somehow acceptable built (refer to past posts!!!), but during idle times, he lights a cigarette. Even though I am looking for a good set of pecs and abs to die for... I would rather achieve this by working out rather than by smoking. You may look good but think of the all the side effects: dry skin, darkened lips, premature aging, lung cancer and all that jazz!!!

One of the most notorious smokers I know are jeepney drivers... and tricycle drivers!!! I WON'T GENERALIZE HERE ~ THERE ARE SOME JEEPNEY AND TRICYCLE DRIVERS WHO DO NOT SMOKE. I know, they are asking for higher transport rates (about a peso or two) because diesel costs PHP 40+ (USD 0.89) per liter... but that's not the point!!! They said that they don't get to like have a bigger "take-home"... and I think smoking is one of the reasons why!!!

I had a friend, who was a colleague in the contact center I have previously worked with ~ and... she was a smoker!!! After lunch, she usually told us we could go to the washroom to prep up while she would smoke a few puffs. I know I joke to her like... make it quick... but nearing my resignation ~ I really wanted her to quit!!! During a 15-minute break, she would usually smoke due to stress and the pressure... but I feel like it makes her stress levels higher, thus making her smoke again after working hours.

Peer pressure and the trends of society: smoking in particular, is bullish!!! They say that people who don't smoke are un-cool, they are not hip, not trendy... and they end up... not healthy!!! Some doctors tell their patients to lessen their cigarette smoking... because they, themselves, smoke. Benadryl... Not a Quick Fix for a Good Night Sleep

After coming home from church last night, I took a capsule of Benadryl (Dipenhydramine Hydrochloride) and a glass of water... prior to my late dinner. And yes, I fell asleep in as fast as an hour. And when I woke up, the first thing I did was look at the wall clock and saw it was 3:50 AM!!! And for some reason: even when I was asleep, I felt all perky ~ like a turkey!!! Ca-loca!!!

For the benefit of people who haven't seen a capsule of Benadryl!!! Please note the appearance, a stranger might give you a honk-in-ass pill!!!

After that, I didn't go back to bed anymore, I just got up so I could renew my NBI clearance... and by the way, I didn't accomplish anything in Taytay today!!! I hate the number system in terms of government service. It should really be a first-come, first-serve basis because it is unfair for people who have gone out of bed early just for futile efforts!!! Anyway, I am going to amuse myself after renewing my NBI clearance at SM MegaMall!!!

Taking a capsule of Benadryl won't make you imagine you're sleeping on with this!!! *I am such a terrible blogger!!!* So don't bother ladies... and manladies!!!

But please take note, benadryl is NOT a quick fix for a good night sleep. It will make you feel drowsy, but it will not improve your sleep quality.

I Think I Want a SoPhone

To be honest, I thought I would never have a liking for China-manufactured phones ~ I mean the Chinese copies of over-priced premium phones, take for example: the iPhone 4.

It's so pretty!!! And you'll be pretty dead if you're caught with one!!!

Way back my call center days, I used to sell mobile phones to Australian citizens for [this company]... and when people are interested with postpaid plans ~ they want to get the iPhone ~ even those who don't want it still mention iPhone!!! And for my entire stay at the telecommunications call floor, there was never a day I haven't heard a customer utter "iPhone"!!! Another info: iPhone (in the telecommunications company I was talking about ) sells like mineral water (since mostly everyone in the Philippines drinks mineral water and don't usually eat hotcakes ~ I rarely order hotcakes)!!! Ca-loca!!! =)

Most Aussies are laid back... so you can talk with them for hours about their interests (iPhone)!!! It's just so bloody amazing!!! =)

As we all know, the iPhone 4 is one of the most expensive mobile phones in the world... I love how it looks like ~ but dear, I won't sacrifice PHP 40,000++ (USD 889) for that mobile... and I don't want to subscribe to [Mobile Provider] because they don't have good reception in my area!!! And if I did that, I would be spending so much more.

You won't know the difference until you come up close to the good and the bad sheep and... they're both Chinese!!!

Anyway, I don't know what the big deal was... but I was looking for a good iPhone copy, and I found one ~ by the name of SoPhone. A video from YouTuber, micgadget, viewing the SoPhone from all angles... all the way to viewing some features.

I looked at one website, and they were selling it for USD 159 (PHP 7,155). I know, it's quite expensive ~ but if you're looking for a replica... from the every thing on the outside, to mostly every thing on the inside, even the user interface is practically similar: this is the best iPhone 4 copy I have seen so far. UST Quadricentennial Celebration + Goodies + Ramble!!!

I didn't graduate from this school... and believe it or not, in my official transcript of records I got 5 failing marks, 1 incomplete grade, and 1 failure due to absence... totaling to 7 failed marks!!! And yet, I still am loyal to this school... I really don't know why.

I studied in the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas way back 2005... it was one of two universities where I could have possibly completed my college education. My extended family wanted me to study there (instead of where the Benavidez monument is pointing!!!) since mostly all of them studied there (my two aunts and my mom graduated here, while my dad was an undergraduate)... and like there was no one from the family who studied here for nearly 24 years... and yes, I went in!!! =)

Here, I actually learned I do not learn by studying, so... I got failing marks. And when I transferred to Siena College Taytay, I planned to return to get a master's degree ~ but I'm pretty sure I will not study again... not because I don't want to put something in my resume... but because it's too expensive... and it is too far... and I'm just a naughty little cactus bludger!!!

Did you know that I tried to enter the contest of making a quadri-centennial logo???!!! The prize was PHP 30,000 (USD 666.67) ~ which I could have used to pay school fees. Unfortunately, I was debarred!!! Anyway, great job!!!

Anyway, UST will be having its official quadri-centennial anniversary on the 28th of April... but for some reason, they made it January this year... I don't get that one. But the nice thing about the said celebration is that there are merchandise up for grabs... and you don't have to be a Thomasian to get one!!! Here are some of the following:

Call Girl Mode

Call girl mode - n. a time period where a desperate, unemployed individual is whoring him or herself to employers.

This is not the call girl mode I had in mind... but I can work as a dancer in an over-sized martini glass!!! =)

Please take note that when I say that I am in a "call girl mode" doesn't mean that I am literally asking someone to spend for one night with me., those are called "pick-up girls" in the Philippines!!! It just means that I am in serious need of a job and sending out my application (whoring) to multiple employers. Mmmkay???!!!

Being unemployed gave me more 'work-out' time... like 2 to 3 hours each day!!! And the reward for working out is ~~stationary biking on that!!!~~ I mean, looking like that!!!

I have two weeks before my big "blood test from the spine day.".. and I'm still unemployed!!! I hate it so much ~ because I will borrow again and I'm drowning in debt!!! Although I won't say that being unemployed is totally a bad thing (for me), I was able to work out for 3 straight days last week (yayness!!!), and I was able to do myself a favor by going to church (for the next few days) to listen to basic doctrines (which I have done... like 5 years ago???!!!)

Ok, a little info on my job search. I looked around me for things that I use on a regular basis, I check on their website and visit the career opportunities. I DO NOT WANT TO GO TO A JOB FAIR AGAIN!!! It was horrendous out there, filling out about 2 to 3 sheets of paper with practically the same items, it renders useless though since you have to give a copy of your resume with photo... such a hassle!!!

The population density of SM MegaMall's MegaTrade Convention Center during job fairs are even denser than the whole Metro Manila!!!

Not many people know this: I want to work with my previous employer. And I asked a question to various friends in Formspring:

Tell me what you think. Although I have applied at various establishments, I am not applying for the same position, outbound sales specialist, rather a new one ~ one I have tried to apply for before, but canceled it on my JobStreet application.

YouTube Problems... and The Solution!!!

A lot of people know that I love YouTube, right?! Yeah! I really love it ~ it entertains me most of the time while I am online.

Although yesterday: was a totally different thing. I know that the many people upload videos to YouTube every second of every minute of every hour of every day ~ but honestly... my upload speed was dreadfully ridiculous!!! I was on the upload page for like probably a day and a half (of course with computer rest and beauty sleep in between that) and yet, my video which is less than 50 MB, which could like be uploaded in less than half an hour (on a good day), always got the same error message. And it is quite annoying, and also a BIG waste of time!!!

Imagine waiting for 706 minutes (roughly 12 hours) for a 47MB video upload!!!...

I also knew lately that YouTube has this JAVA-assisted uploader… and let me tell you… IT DIDN’T HELP ~ AT ALL!!! The feature was to allow users to make uploads ‘resume-able '. The developers of that are so echozerohs and echozerahs and full of chorvah!!! Again, for your information, it didn’t work!!! What in the world was that all about???!!! Save your jokes ~ it’s not even April yet!!! If anyone has tried that feature out, can you just tell me if it worked for you??? I don’t want to be one-sided. Post a comment (they're all moderated by the way).

How about waiting for 1,296 minutes (about 21 and 1/2 hours) for a 47MB video upload!!!

And I also used DVDSoft’s YouTube uploader, and if that bar with the blue tint was supposed to be a progress bar, it didn’t even bulge!!! The download time of the application was more or less 5 to 10 minutes, but the upload time is so chorvah!!!

I couldn’t say that it was with my computer ~ I was running only Windows (DUH!), my browser (I randomly used Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome), and the anti-virus application in the background. And the internet speed is amazing!!! I just didn’t get what was the problem.

So, how did I solve my YouTube Upload Problem???!!!

The best video editor I have ever used... but lacks the 'Upload to YouTube' function

After my Mintherapy for Feet - Leg and Foot Lotion Commercial (I used this video for a class project), I decided that I need a new video editor ~ Windows Movie Maker isn't the best video editor out there... but it has its perks too since it's easy to use though. So I switched to Vegas Movie Studio ~ back then I used the Platinum Version 9, then gone to Vegas Pro 9... and now ~ I upgraded to Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum. And so far, it is the best!!!

When I was losing all hope from uploading a video, I ran to this software!!!

So, if you have the software, you don't need to render it as a separate file. You can click some button there and 'Upload to YouTube'. It has 3 steps (among which the application does the 2nd and 3rd automatically):

All you need to do is enter your YouTube username, password, and video details (title, description, tags).
The video then will be rendered according to its properties (check File>Properties to check if the video is according to your settings ~ e.g. NTSC or PAL frame rate; 3:4, or 16:9 aspect ration; standard, 720p HD or 1,080p HD; among others) into a *.mp4 file.
Then after rendering is done, it will be uploaded to YouTube!!! Yay!!!

I was happy with the results since it was able to maximize the upload speed of my internet connection ~ something not possible with uploading through a web browser!!! I know, my suggestion is not free. But if you're editing videos yourself ~ it is one of the best, especially if you use the nifty plug-ins!!!

Starting this 2011, I will be adding color and movement by ^raising and _lowering text levels, more Filipino gay slang, and also a multitude of outrageous photos to give readers, I guess, a better reading and viewing experience!!! ^{Echoz-ness!!!} =)

There are probably thousands and thousands of people who think I'm 'gay' by viewing my photos at social networking sites and viewing my videos at YouTube (but don't rush to conclusions!!!)... and they like make a big fuzz over it!!! Then there are haters... ^{What in the world is that about???!!!} =)

Gays think I need to go out of the closet and straight boys have second thoughts!!! ^Weirdness!!!

First of all, I just want to say:

THIS IS NOT A COMING OUT BLOG ENTRY!!! OK???!!! AND I DID AND WOULD NOT COME OUT OF ANYTHING... ESPECIALLY A CLOSET!!! ^SILLINESS!!!

The reason I posted this entry is because people (especially those who live in the Philippines) have a very narrow perspective or may have no idea of the following terms: EFFEMINATE, FLAMBOYANT, METROSEXUAL.

I usually describe myself as an effeminate, flamboyant, metrosexual. So what does that mean???!!!

EFFEMINATE - adj. Having behaviour or mannerisms considered unmasculine or typical of a woman or girl; feminine.

When I was younger, I was raised in an extended family that is predominantly FEMALE. I am usually with my sister, my mom, my aunts, and my grandmother. Every thing that I hear from them... I usually do. For example: "Do not sit with your legs apart" (One reason why I always have my legs crossed). Also, my mom and my grandmother are people who really take care of their physical appearance by using cosmetics (and I started using them since the sophomore year in high school - but I go the natural route), taking care of your legs. The others, well - it's because of peers. Honestly, I trim, I thread, I shave, I pluck body hairs!!! From the head up to the toes... no body hair is safe!!! Although I don't go extreme... ok???!!! I am not sure what effeminate in Filipino is called, I think it is binabae.

FLAMBOYANT - adj. Showy, bold or audacious in behaviour, appearance, etc.

My sophomore year in high school was one of the things that DRASTICALLY changed my personality ~ since I have the company of several gay guys. Have you ever seen how a liberated gay guy acts... how about a very aggressive women???!!! They voice out any thing and every thing (as much as possible)... and they're proud of it!!! So I like gave it a try and... I LOVE IT!!! I am flamboyant - although not very flashy (I don't follow trends)... I have a loud personality with some finesse to it !!! ^{Para hindi naman palengkera ang dating, right???!!!} =)

I am not even close to being as flamboyant as s/he!!! ^{I do not cross-dress, FYI!!!} =)

METROSEXUAL - adj.

A man concerned with personal appearance, such as personal grooming, fashion, and aesthetics in general; who may or may not be concerned with self-indulgence and money. (Usually urban, heterosexual, often affluent).
A man who is seen, sociologically, as having attributes common to homosexuals, but is in fact heterosexual.

Even before all of the ads which push cosmetic products for men. I have tried them all!!! Yes, since 2nd year high school ~ I have been trying all of those female products from exfoliants, to makeup (enhancing my natural appearance, FYI), to plucking and shaving certain hairs (I think it's manscaping - but I think that refers to thunder from down under???!!!). Then all of those "man-versions" came out. By the way, I started shaving my legs when I was 5 years old... and they were beautiful!!!

And I have a multitude of equally powerful characteristics similar to the three mentioned above... and to put it all together... it sounds über, über gay, right???!!! I should be like straighter but a bit gay-er???!!! That's so Armand Félj ~ I am making my first two names an adjective, right now!!!

I am not being in any way discriminating to gays - because I love them... and I agree to the freedom of being gay (except their marriage ~ don't ask why!!!)!!! Besides, I also have gay crushes (long story!!!)!!! But seriously, only 'You' know what your orientation be... and it shouldn't matter so much. I just get a bit pissed off when I get a racy comment on YouTube. Anyway, it's just a matter of block user, delete comment, and get on with your life, right???!!!

Sleeping Early... A BIG PROBLEM!!!

I have been told an infinite (well, not really) number of times, "Sleep early." "Sleep na." and other mix-and-match combinations of that phrase.

No one sleeps with me... in the dark... ok???!!! Are those my glasses???!!!

Before the fourth grade, I could be asleep as late as 10 or 11 during the weekends. But what about the fourth grade, what was in it that changed my sleeping habits???!!! And how did it develop through the years???!!!

As not many people know... I really don't think it's insomnia. But maybe it is. When I was in the fourth grade - drastic changes were done... if a usual elementary student would have his or her classes starting at 7 or 8 in the morning - he or she has to be up by about 5 AM and get ready, wait for the school service or something like that and on to flag ceremony, right???!!! Mine was different. I had to get up at 10 in the morning - imagine, that's a 5 hour difference, and I will be picked up by the school service tricycle driver at around 11:30 AM. And yes, my classes started at 12:30 in the afternoon, it was quite weird at first... but I got used to it.

I feel for you too, dear!!!

It doesn't end there! My aunt decided to give our television viewing experience a major perk boost by hooking up our television sets with cable (I know, right???!!! It's amazing!!!)!!! And yes, the notion of not sleeping early started there... even though we could use the computer up to 10 PM (before), we had television 24/7!!!

I couldn't say that I slept late every single day because I was an honor student... NO!!! I DIDN'T STUDY!!! Although I have been giving satisfactory grades since grade 1 without studies... I just relied on that... I'm a bloody BLUDGER aren't I????!!!

Then of course, sophomore year in high school when the internet came along... oh my gosh!!! I can recall spending about a third of my allowance in internet cards just so I could take advantage of the free internet (yeah right!) from 12 AM up to 8 AM... no sleep... non-stop internet at a pace a bit slower than a turtle!!! Hey!!! DSL was like a millionaire's purchase!!! Besides, I only rely on my allowance!!!

Then there's college. I was a student of the only pontifical university in the Philippines. My classes go as early as 7 AM and end up at 5 PM (I was an irregular student during the 2nd semester)... and the travel time is 2 hours... and when you arrive home all you want to do is sleep or watch TV or browse Friendster (that was the trend back then)... so you could relax... and when you look at the clock - only 3 hours to sleep!!!

Then after I transferred to Siena College. Life was a bit easier - but sleeping early was still a hassle!!! During the junior and senior years, the bigggest thing that ever bugged me was that freaking hell published, the Feasibility Study (notice the capitalization of the letters?)!!! And the research coordinator didn't give a piss-off without my mom giving her a dress. Ok, then I graduated!!!

Then during work, well - All I can say is that sleeping early was still a big dream!!! I usually go to bed at around 2 or 3 in the morning... hardship!!! And then I got hospitalized due to hemolytic anemia, still recall that???!!!

And the hematologist told me to sleep early, and my cousin who is a med-tech practitioner advised me to sleep as early as 9 PM and just continue the usage of the computer at 4 AM... didn't really work - even with the usage of Iterax (I'm not really sure if it's just a drug for sleeping or for relaxing).

And the reward to sleeping early is waking up ~~next to that!!!~~ Er!!! I mean, looking like that!!! *I'm feeling so echozerah today!!!* =)

And the worse is yet to come, I have a hemoglobin electrophoresis this coming February 8 and I sleep like 7 in the morning!!! But I sleep like a log... for like about 8 to 16 hours. Maybe I should be transported to another country through LBC or Air21 then shipped back when I develop abnormal sleeping habits at that country!!!

Canon Hack Development Kit (CHDK)

I thought that I would really end up with another Casio Exilim digital camera ~ don't get me wrong, I love my EX-V7. But the video and image isn't as sharp as I wanted it to be, unlike that of any Canon model. I just recently discovered that budget-model (no offense for the term) Canon PowerShot and lower-end (again) Ixus models can now have a zoom functionality!!! And it is by the use of the Canon Hack Development Kit or CHDK.

All you have to do is place the CHDK in your memory card (whatever memory card Canon models use) and run the application on your camera. Ok, so I've seen it, but what does CHDK do to a *supported* (yup, select Canon camera models are supported). I only listed a few notable changes with CHDK since not all of us are professional photographers.

For Images:

Ultra long shutter speed - let's say you're interested at night photography, CHDK will enable you to let more light in the camera lens so you would have a better looking photo with less noise (best used with a tripod). By the way, recent Canon point and shoot cameras have a 15 second shutter speed.

Ultra fast shutter speed - you're a fan of sports, right? And you need to get action at an impossible rate - the human eye can't capture... that's what this functionality is about. You can get impressive shots similar to those of expensive digital single lens-reflex (DSLR) cameras!!! Recent models have a shutter speed of 1/3,200 of a second, with CHDK, and with CHDK - you may get up to 1/10,000 of a second or higher!!!

For Videos:

Elimination of 1 GB video size limit - if you're a video love (like I am) and you shoot high definition (HD) videos, 1 GB may be a short clip - especially if the quality is high, right???!!! So you can go over that and shoot like an uninterrupted long clip, which you can edit later.
Zoom during video function - not all Canon digital cameras have the zoom in function available inbox. So, you can actually add the zoom feature while you shoot videos and the camera auto-focuses so that it's not blurry on output. The only consequence of this function is that you can hear the zoom motor of the camera - and that's not cute.

All of these features sounds too good to be true, right???!!! Imagine, you can add these features to your Canon PowerShot A495 at a cost of PhP 5,723 (USD 127.18)!!!

For your information, the CHDK also has its down-side. You may get all of the good stuff, but it can harm your camera too. If the settings are so extreme, you may actually damage the camera and this is not covered by warranty.

EXPERIENCE - Making a Realistic Goal for 2011

Good for me, I'm not allowed to eat a lot of red meat, prior to my vertebral blood test, because I could be diagnosed with hereditary Thalassemia; and that there is no Christmas ham season this year... so...

"I will not be a voluptuous 150-pounder diva piece of sexy hot ass ever again!!!"

But even though my weight is still at the normal range (I measure 140++ pounds at the English scales after drinking a spirit-lost glass of Coke, eating a piece of ChickenJoy and a black forest sundae)... my proportions aren't. I have to lose 2 to 3 inches of my waist (and I do not believe in spot reduction) or else, I will have to buy new pants later in the future... and yes, I am at present - unemployed!!! Added hassle!!!

I admit, I was quite of a ~~SLUT~~ (Oops! Wrong spelling!!!) SLOTH this year... although I did about several workout sessions (not that much). I also mentioned wanting to have a good body like Marc Nelson or a great body like Piolo Pascual (Click here to read the said post).

Not the gay marriage!!!), and saw the photo of hunksicle, Mr. Chris Evans, as Captain America. It is quite... actually super inspirational to people who are looking to be in the best shape of their life (and making - not getting - something out of it). It is just the right amount of musculature (that would require a complete top wardrobe change) without the steroidal appearance. I would want to have that in an achievable number of years with hard work... but I have to learn how to leave my excuses in 2010. Moving on... isn't he ~~delicious~~... err... looking better than ever???!!! Hehehe!!! =p

QUESTION:
By the way, did he really have tattoos or does he have tattoos that were air-brushed with foundation so they would be covered??? Can anyone please reply!!! =p

I know that one year is not enough to achieve the results (Taylor Lautner's was a few months right... but not as hot as this!!!) as seen in the photo above ~ not the Madonna photo okay???!!! (unless I will use a ton of supplements... too risky!!!) So, I would just like do it the hard way. I believe that it takes years: a lot of sweat on the floor, pumping iron like every single day for different body parts, and the discipline in eating (which I am a total failure at!!!)!!!

Ok, starting the time I wake up later in the morning... or in the afternoon, I will start doing 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of basic training... and adding a bit more... and moving towards my goals!!! =)

EXPERIENCE - The Year 2010 and Its Perks

The year 2010 is almost about to end... and yes - it is probably the most adventurous ones I've ever had. A lot of firsts happened this year which are so unforgettable... it's almost deadly!!! *Ouch!*

And since it has it's perks... let's just take a quick look in the past and hope for a better 2011 to come! =)

2010 was the first time...

I put my Facebook relationship status as in: "In a relationship" (that was scandalous!!!)

I finished my feasibility study (after 2 long years... and bribing a school official with a Tyler dress!!!)

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management (with no awards and a very scandalous transcript of records!!!)

I voted for a president (I voted for Manny Villar ~ NoyNoy Aquino would really win... he has a very scandalous, tactless, blabber-mouth sister named Kris!!! Why wouldn't he win by landslide???!!!)

I went to a job fair (with that tacky-tacky, very tacky stamp!!!)

I had my very first *paying job* (even though I have been paid two weeks prior to my resignation!!!)

I celebrated my 22nd birthday (like there would be another 22nd birthday, right???!!!)

I formally resigned from an employment (on the spot!!!)

I had the closest near-to-death experience (to date... and thanks to Him I'm still a walking piece of dirt!!!)

I re-bonded my hair (and it is like a rod... like a stick... that straight!!!)

I bought something over the internet (don't I look someone who'll curse your acne off for almost-flawless Harry Potter skin???!!!)

And...

It was my 4th anniversary of spreading metrosexuality scandalous love on YouTube!!! (And I like embedded this video several times on my blog!!!)

The year had the goods... but I wasn't very much satisfied with the outcome of the year since I didn't achieve much of my goals (I gained not so good weight, and I'm not yet on high definition!!! *Eke!!!*) ~ I'm not a goal-oriented individual, so why would I???!!! But I'm not making a New Year Resolution... because New Year is about 15 days away... so, I will start earlier than other people, and hopefully - I will have a better 2011.

WISHLIST - Canon PowerShot SX210IS

If you people remember, I had a question on my FaceBook Personal and General Page. It was more of a status message

"It's a difficult decision: What should I buy A) A Casio digital camera with high definition (720p) movie recording feature for more and better YouTube videos, or B) Teeth whitener and 2 months supply of Proactiv for acne control??? And why???!!!"

I thought of it and I would go for a camera - which I'll get into. But I will have my teeth whitened and my blemishes dealt with first - so I will be photo and video ready!!!

If you didn't know - I've been wanting to replace my Casio Exilim EX-V7 ages ago. And I've been looking for the best replacement. The specifications should be better as well - although most cameras now come with a higher resolution than 7.2, but cameras with a zoom higher than 7x are rare!!! Casio cameras, according to images posted in reviews, are almost identical and they lack sharpness. In my opinion, quality should be better - but even high end Casio cameras still have the same problem.

Therefore, I will switch from a Casio digital camera to a Canon!!! It will be a big leap, I will part from the user-friendliness of Casio and onto a whole different world.

So, most cameras from Canon have a high resolution - but the zoom is usually upto 4x only. And for me, that is not very helpful. I take pictures and videos of a subject more than 10 meters away and exhausting a 7x power zoom. So going down 3 steps will affect a lot!!!

And on a website, I saw the Canon PowerShot SX210IS. It has twice the zoom of my current digital camera - imagine 14x zoom!!! It can take images up to 14 megapixels, and can also give me better videos for my YouTube channel!!! Wow!!!

The nice thing also about this model is that it comes in 3 amazingly eye delicious flavors! The black one is what I will be *hopefully* purchasing. I actually asked YouTube user, Infosyncvideos, if the zoom capability of this camera can be used simultaneously while recording a video. Because if not, I will have to buy a separate Canon digital camera and a video camera recorder - and that is not the most practical thing to do if you are just going to film makeup tutorials at home and make them accessible to everyone on the web, right???!!!

I saw the video (zoom is fixed to 1x) and the it is amazingly amazing!!! The sample video clip is by the same YouTube user.

The nice thing about the video is considering the person taking the video is constantly moving on a certain duration of the video, the result is still crisp!!! And I love it!!! =)

The price of this particular model is PHP 15,876 (~ USD 334.23) online as opposed to the suggested retail price of PHP 23,950 (~ USD 504.21)

WISHLIST - Sigma Makeup Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki Brush

I admit, I'm a stickler for using brushes when applying my makeup. But don't get me wrong - I don't like bright and out of this world colors on my face... since I don't go with the trend. I just like to keep it nice, clean and simple - you wouldn't even know I wear the thing!

To date, I have 23 brushes? And some of them, some used and unused ones, I already gave away. I started with a short-handled brush set, I bought them at HBC for about PHP 80.00++ (~ USD 1.68). And yes, I know how to use each and every one of the 23 brushes I have, but for me - it's not enough... I'm kind of vain right now.

There are certain occasions that you really have to look your best in your fluid foundation. Yes a regular foundation brush (similar to M·A·C 190) is a good brush to start in using to apply liquid foundation - but I really prefer to use that for concealer in larger areas. And did I not mention - if you use that kind of brush on your face for applying liquid foundation - you could have streaks and lines if you are not a good makeup blender???!!! And I'm not an expert at blending - but I'm getting better at it!!!

So, I was looking online for a good makeup brush that could solve the problems of: streaks and lines, and also so I could use less liquid foundation. And I found the Sigma Website and saw a 187-M·A·C like brush - but I don't want a brush with long optical fibers on it since (no matter how thick they are) it gets flimsy and could bend. I want shorter optical fibers on a brush and found the Sigma Makeup Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki Brush (as shown above) to be perfect!!! And also, it costs less since there is a Multiply site which sells this brush for PHP 1,100 (~USD 23.15). I know it's more expensive than that in the site but since there is a shipping fee and would come from a different country, the delivery is twice the price of the brush!!! So the PHP 50.00 (~USD 1.05) delivery fee is no problem for me at the moment. I just don't know when to order this brush - if before or when I have a new job!!! =)

EXPERIENCE – Blood is Life, Right???!!!

Not many people knew that I was rushed to the hospital last Sunday, 7^th November. And people who knew about a blood transfusion at my Facebook page didn’t know or didn’t believe. And of course, the least person I know who would go to the hospital is yours truly – I never had a serious disease going on… and so I knew.

Notice how pale my arm, hand, and fingers are - the last picture shows four of my fingernails without the "lunula" (read article here)

Last Saturday, 6^th November, after 2 church services – my mom noticed that I wasn’t feeling good at all and asked me, “Do you want to go to the hospital?” and I replied. “No.” And with that was a thought that bed rest could do good for me. The next morning – I woke up and told Tita Baby about it… and when she looked at me and I was so pale.

“My skin was so pale, and I like had very, very pale lips as if I was using my Fanny Serrano liquid lipstick in light petal. But I wasn’t.”

So, later that afternoon – I was brought to some San Diego Clinic in Cainta to have a checkup. I was like having difficulty in breathing with a lot of movements. So, I had to like lie down… I heard from the doctor talking with my parents saying,

“It could be psychological.”

Notice how I emphasized it – bold typeface, italicized, underlined and in all caps! I was thinking – this is not a joke… and he was like saying it was psychological???!!! I resigned for my benefit here!!! The doctor told them to bring me to Metro Rizal Doctors Hospital (METRODOCS) for a CBC – some type of blood testing. They like got blood sample in a 6 ml syringe. And after 2 hours, we found that the results were overwhelming!!! The normal count for an adult is like 14.0… and guess what my score was… it was a 6.6!!! That is less than half of the normal!!! So, that evening, I had to be confined… and I needed 3 bags of type O positive blood for transfusion.

Some sisters in the church who were affiliated in the Lingap Kapatid Department (LKD) have some connection to the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) because of the Blood Letting Program they have… I think in a monthly basis. And since there was a blood letting that time, mom thought I could have some bags of those – not knowing that they should be screened first prior to transfusion.

So, it took like about a day for my dad to acquire a bag of blood. Mom and the other church sisters called branches they knew a PNRC was located and my dad went to the PNRC branch at Pasig City, then to a branch at Quezon City! The doctor got somehow pissed off at him and said, “Why didn’t you check the PNRC at Rizal?” That doctor somehow doesn’t know the value of a blood bag. So, with a blood bag hooked to the IV pole, I had like 900 ml of blood in my system in a few hours.

After like a day and a half – my dad purchased 2 bags of blood from Manila Doctors Hospital – wherever that is. And the 2^nd transfusion was so unbearable!!! The nurse said that it was blood and not the saline solution that’s why it’s painful. I woke up my mom and dad at the middle of the night and they had it removed.

So, after 6 hours of rest, another nurse placed the 3^rd bag. And it started ok… a little discomfort as expected… and when another nurse came in, he/she adjusted it… and it became painful!!! I mean, do each nurses have instruction to adjust the settings???!!! This is no joke – if I said it’s painful… it’s really painful!!!

The transfusion had to be done on the other arm because the vein could handle so much. So a doctor like got that needle thing and like bore a hole on my right hand!!! And the vein was so small, he had to remove it!!! That will definitely leave a mark!!! And then he requested me to remove my watch (which I usually wear at my right wrist), and he like had placed the needle in there… well, at the left side of my right wrist with palm facing down. So, I had a blood transfusion there for N hours – how should I know???!!! I didn’t have a watch!!!

The transfusion ended around 11 AM yesterday… and I had a blood test at about 5 PM – if the level is below 9.0, I will need another bag for transfusion and therefore, I had to stay for another day!!! After an hour, I got the result… and it was a 10!!! So I could like go home.

But everything doesn’t end there. The hematologist told me that I had to have 2 check-ups with Doctors San Diego and Ruiz at the 15^th and 17^th this month and that I have a Bone Marrow Blood Extraction test this coming January 2011!!! My mom had like that and they got a blood sample somewhere at her spine!!! *Ouch!!!* This test will confirm if I have “inherited an imported blood disease” called

Thalassemia

WISHLIST - Asus N61JV Notebook PC

I wished for a laptop since I was elementary, but actually - since I'm working... I could have a grasp on one... but that's later on!!!

I looked at a broadsheet a while ago and saw an ad for the Asus N Series notebook PC. And I was absolutely amazed at how it looked like. I was looking for a portable PC which had a regular sized screen and a full QWERTY keyboard with numeric keypad. And yes, I fell in love with it ~ it's my brand new crush... but it really ends there!!!

The particular laptop runs on an Intel Core i5 processor, a 4 GB DDR memory and has 500 GB of storage! The only computer I can compare it with (what I know) at the moment is the Neo Elan L2270, and I don't even know if they still sell it.

I looked at the price of the unit at one of the computer shop's websites I was shocked - it still costs more than what I will earn during a half year stay at my workplace - the unit is PHP 56,000!!! By the way, the other computer costs PHP 31,000 and is usually available at any Compex Internation Store in the Philippines.

WISHLIST - Nokia N97 Mini

Ok, so I've been fancying on the Nokia 5800 and the Nokia N97 on previous posts... but those were in the past - and I've come up with a new one.

I am currently employed at a call center company which does marketing services for a telecommunications company - and up-sells from prepaid to postpaid. And the Nokia N97 Mini is what I always recommend, because it is a phone which I want for myself as well. And they can own this phone for $ 0 upfront on a 24 month contract... if you are of a certain nationality, I think you know what company is behind the curtain, right???!!! =)

The Nokia N97 is so far, one of the phones which could actually cover my needs in day-to-day life: it has a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics for photos and videos, a QWERTY keyboard, it has a media player, it can act as my mobile storage device, and I can browse the internet on any Wi-Fi hotspot! And all these features in a phone that costs PHP 16,000. I know it's a bit pricey as of the moment, but I didn't mention anything about buying it now! Right?

The colors available are cherry black, garnet, gold and white (as shown above) - but I really prefer a solid black color - since it goes with anything.

The only thing about the Nokia N97 Mini which has a small turn off is the position of the space bar - which is a bit more on the right side of the screen, which is somehow... weird! It should have been (at least) on the center of some letter keys on the third row.
